Welcome to Year 4!

Shwmae a Croeso/Hello and welcome to the Year 4 class page. This page will give you a glimpse into the fantastic things that are going on in our classroom and a look at the exciting topics that are being taught in Year 4 this year.

Meet the team

Croeso! I am Miss Turner, the Year 4 class teacher and I am supported by Mrs Marsh and Miss Harvey. If you have any questions please feel free to message us through ClassDojo.

Our Class Topic

Invasion!

We’re going back in time to explore the Anglo- Saxons and how the Vikings shaped Wales and our community. Using digital technology, we will analyse primary evidence to extend our knowledge on what is fact and what is fiction. We have fantastic lessons planned, so grab your galea (helmet) and come join in with all the fun!

How you can help!

You can help by reading regularly at home even if it is just 10 minutes each night. Reading about the class topic is also useful as little snippets of information helps with our class work! There are lots of really good websites to help with this and don’t forget that you can use the local library too.

Practising times tables with your child is really important, choose a times table and practise a little bit each night at your own pace. You can use SumDog or Percy Parker on YouTube to help your child.

Don't forget that homework is given out on Friday and is to be handed in on Wednesday. smiley

Things to Remember! enlightened

Reading Books:

Please bring in reading books each day, although children have set days for reading it's a nice opportunity to read one to one with another member of staff or have additional reading time with the teacher. Our class and school library have lots of lovely books to look at so feel free to borrow these to share at home.

PE:

Please make sure PE kit is in school every Friday afternoon, gym shoes or trainers will be needed for outdoor games activities. In colder weather warmer clothes should be worn i.e. leggings, jogging trousers and a sweatshirt, coloured T shirts can be purchased from the school office if one is needed.

Spelling:

As a school we are working hard on promoting the importance of spelling correctly. This term we are having a big push on spelling accurately in our work and trying to make spelling fun. Our aim is to produce capable and independent spellers through an engaging and challenging whole school approach. All children will be given spellings each week to learn and will be assessed through activities during the week.
