Our Topic this term is:

Communicaiton

This term, we will be exploring the exciting world of communication! We will discover how people share their thoughts, ideas and feelings through speaking, writing, signs, symbols and technology. We’ll investigate how communication has changed over time, explore different languages and ways of communicating, and learn how to be kind, respectful and safe when communicating with others. Through stories, games, role-play, creative activities and practical challenges, the children will develop their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.

Some helpful bits of information!

Wednesday: All reading books and homework to be handed in, new books and homework will be prepared and ready to be sent home on Friday.

Friday: PE, children to bring in a kit with a t-shirt in their house colour. Trainers will also be needed in the finer weather when children will go outdoors. 

Snack money: All children have milk/water and a daily snack every morning, this includes a variety of fruit, biscuits, cheese, carrot and cucumber. Snack is £1 per week, this can be paid weekly, half termly/termly or for the full year.

Wellington Boots: As soon as the weather brightens up, children will be using the outdoor areas. We are very lucky to have beautiful grounds here at Mayals, whether its on the yard, on the field, down the 'Willow' or visiting the pond area, a pair of wellies and a coat is needed.

How to help your child at home!

• Read daily, little and often is the key! Try not to make it too much of a chore, sharing books together can and should be an enjoyable experience.
• Your child’s reading book will be changed weekly and sent home on a Friday. Please return both the book and folder by WEDNESDAY each week.

• Times Tables – Practise counting in steps of 2, 5, and 10. Moving on to steps of 3 and 4. You can begin learning the multiplication facts for these times tables by rote.
• J2Blast on Hwb is a great resource for rapid recall of number facts as well as Sumdog. Check if you are unsure of your child's login.
