Croeso i Flwyddyn Dau!
Welcome to Year 2!
Welcome to our new class page! On this page I will introduce you to our exciting topics and give you some information about what we will be learning each term. There are also some useful links for learning at home at the bottom of this page. If you have any queries, then please do not hesitate to contact me in school or via email!
Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum. Arrrr me hearties, it's a sailor's life for me!
Get your sea legs on, it's time to sail the salty seas. Navigate, investigate and explore the world - just like Captain Cook!
Make a boat, sink a ship and fly a pirate flag. Speak like a pirate, write like a poet then weigh and measure the pirate's booty!
How do rescues happen at sea? Find out about brave volunteers and the young Grace Darling, rowing her boat across stormy seas.
Sing a sea shanty while cleaning the 'poop' deck then search the school grounds for Captain Longbeard's hidden treasure.
Thar's land ahead, me buckos! Let's get t'ship t'port!
Well, what an unusual start to the Summer Term! I hope that you are all keeping well and staying safe at home, Mrs Davey and I are missing each and every one of you. Thank you for all of your photographs, messages and emails sharing what you have been getting up to, they really do cheer us up and put a smile on our faces.
It is hard to believe that this would be your final term in Foundation Phase and I still have my fingers and toes crossed that we will get to spend some time with you before you move up to Year 3! Mums and Dads, feel free to contact me if you need any help or support at home and keep sharing the lovely things you are doing! We think you are doing a brilliant job!
A message from Mrs Davey
" Hi Blwyddyn Dau, I hope you are all happy and safe at home. I have been enjoying catching up on Dojo and seeing all the lovely things you have been getting up to. I am missing you all very much but I have been lucky to see some of you out and about (at a safe distance). I hope you are all being well behaved at home and trying your very best like you do in class. Keep smiling!"
How to help your child at home!
Read daily, little and often is the key! Try not to make it too much of a chore, sharing books together can and should be an enjoyable experience.
Your child’s reading book will be changed weekly. Please return both the book and folder by Thursday each week.
Times Tables – Practise counting in steps of 2, 5, and 10. Moving on to steps of 3 and 4.
You can begin learning the multiplication facts for these times tables by rote.
J2Blast on Hwb is a great resource for rapid recall of number facts.
